Supported and coordinated by the Task Force on Transitional Housing under the Transport and Housing Bureau, Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) signed a licence agreement with MTR Corporation Limited (MTRC) on the use of their property Trackside Villas for operating a transitional housing project for 5 years.
Of the 252 units of Trackside Villas, 192 are two-bedroom units in Block I and 60 are three-bedroom units in Block U. As of May 2020, over 180 vacant flats are available for use of transitional housing. With a subsidy granted by the Community Care Fund, HKHS commenced the refurbishment work of the vacant flats in May 2020, and the first batch of tenants in-take is expected in Q3 of 2020.
Furthermore, HKHS will collaborate with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS). Through their Community Housing Movement, HKCSS will sub-let some of the transitional housing units to people in need with family support services.
